About Bass Guitar Rocks

Read about Bass Guitar Rocks author Michael Ippersiel.

Hi! Bass Guitar Rocks is my online bass hangout. This is where I get to use my writing, video and web skills along with my experience and love of performing on bass guitar with you . I want to help others the way I wish someone could have helped me when I first picked up the bass guitar (before the internet was around).

mebn51 About Bass Guitar Rocks

My version of Bass Nirvana!

As a journalist I’ve had the opportunity to interview musicians like Jason Newsted (Metallica) and Vinnie Paul (Pantera) as well as band members from Moist, The Four Horsemen and The Watchmen.

As a bass player I’ve been playing for almost seventeen years as part of Omega A.D. and I’ve performed throughout Southern Ontario (Canada) opening for bands like Nazareth, April Wine, Helix and The Killer Dwarfs.

My style is rock/hard rock oriented, that was the type of music I was listening to when I started playing and it’s been encoded into my DNA. I do respect all forms of music that incorporate melody, intelligent lyrics, well crafted songs and talented musicianship – even if they don’t fall into the ‘rock’ vein – but rock is my specialty. I’ve been playing 5 string bass almost exclusively since 1995. In 2007 I finally got my hands on an F Bass BN5 and I’m now in Bass Nirvana!

My current bass gear includes

  • F Bass BN5
  • Ibanez BTB 505 (F Bass preamp equiped)
  • Trace Elliot AH400 SMX Amp Head
  • Trace Elliot 4 x 10 cabinet w/ tweeter
  • Sansamp Bass Driver DI
  • Digitech BP8 Floor Processor
  • Monster Bass Cables

I currently reside in Guelph, Ontario, Canada – happily married with my wife and two children and I still get the occasional opportunity to perform live as a member of Omega A.D. and can be reached via the contact form below.

    Hey Mike –

If you feel so inclined, please check out the Mean site and the MySpace (but you probably already have).

I would love to be interviewed by bassguitarrocks.com! Especially in regards to the new album coming out later this year…
